DirectionalEQ is unique from all the App Store because it combines EQ and pan and this is awesome. I explain… DirectionalEQ is a stereo 5 bands parametric EQ. Each band comes with the same controls. A Gain (+/-20dB), Frequency (16Hz to 22kHz), Filter Q, At this moment everything is “normal" but just below 2 more knobs: A Degree and a Directional Gain. (Below again, Mute, Solo, and the the filter types: band-pass (two types), notch, low-/high-pass, low-shelf, high-shelf and peak). The Degree knob (-45 to 45 degrees) will pan a band and the Directional Gain controls overall gain in the direction set by the Degree control. In use: As you can see below, the UI is very simple. For example, no master out level meter, which can be a little bit annoying when you are using the Stand Alone version of DirectionalEQ. Also, and this is not because of the App, but because of what DirectionalEQ allows you to do, you can be a little bit lost while you are shaping an audio signal. Take care of what types of EQ filter you are using on all bands. Use the Mute and Solo button to check what you are doing... In summary: I love, no, I really love the concept, the processing quality and the Solo button is really helpful… You can also use it as a conventional 5 bands EQ without to use the 2 Degrees knobs. A Killer App! A Must Have for real sound engineers....

This is my favourite reverb from the App Store. I love it for its processing quality, for its versatility for the 4 band EQ and the Early Reflection Modeling parameters. Because all this Parameters you can use a big Reverb, even a huge one as a Taj Mahal like I used to do with my guitar. Below, the App Store description. A Killer App! A Must Have! A note: In the App Store description it's write Audiobus 2 compatible but AudioReverb is also Audiobus 3 compatible! 4 vidéos here: The first one is the Audio Unit version. v2.0.3 The second one is the IAA version. v1.1.2 The video 3 & 4 are My Love Story and Romeo and Juliet recording. 2 Songs that I play live. The Reverb is AudioReverb. App Store description: Studio quality reverb for AUv3 compatible hosts / Audiobus / Inter-app audio and songs from your iTunes music library. AudioReverb is an algorithmic reverberation app which combines the flexibility of vintage algorithmic reverbs with the sonic quality of convolution based reverbs. The creation of high quality reverb needs a realistic simulation of the important early reflections together with a smooth and colorless reverberation tail. The early reflections are the most important clue for the human ear to get a feeling about the dimension and character of a room. Most algorithmic reverbs offer a number of different algorithms to simulate different natural rooms like chamber, halls or artificial ones like plates. AudioReverb uses impulse responses from real acoustic spaces and classical reverb algorithms to emulate their acoustical properties. The resulting reverberation sets new standards in clarity and sense of space ! Use AudioReverb for enhancing your listening experience with your favourite iTunes songs. Use AudioReverb as professional reverb plugin to improve the quality of any Audiobus or Inter-app audio compatible App. • Smooth reverb tail generation. • Early Reflection Modelling. • 118 factory presets. • 4 Band Equalizer. • AudioUnit for AUv3 compatible hosts. • Inter-app audio compatible effect. • Audiobus 2 compatible as input/effect/output (requires iOS 7 or newer). • Reverberate any song in your iTunes library. • Low latency live usage with mic and headphones. • Audio recorder. • Upload to SoundCloud and File Export. • Audio pasteboard for exporting to other Apps Review by Ed La > lalalalalalalala. So, lalalab is a delay laboratory! A randomizer Delay. Parameters available: input / delay mix L & R / delay feedback L & R / speed / clean mix and output. For all these parameters excepted the input and output, 3 randomizers. The first randomizer on the left side, will randomise the parameter value from the minimum to the lowest medium value. The second one will randomise the medium values and the third one, from the highest medium value to the maximum value. All the randomizers switch on will randomise the full range values. 2 others randomizers will randomise the L & R delay mix and feedback. In the middle of the screen, a randomizer for all parameters. The delay feedback is displayed in millisecond. The processing quality is great, lalalab support Audiobus, can be used as an IAA plugins and as a Stand Alone App too. Before to conclude, a little detail: lalalab is totally free without ad. Try it, and if you like it check out Deregulator from this developer or wait for the sixth App: a Shimmer Randomizer Delay. A Super App for Free, so a very big Thanks to the developer! Review by Ed This application simulates the acoustics of a room and reproduces the sound signals for the two ears of a virtual listener inside the room. The sound sources take their signals from the left and right input channels (coming from a microphone, Inter-App Audio, or the AUv3 host application) and can be moved in real time by dragging the loudspeaker symbols on the screen. The listener can be moved by dragging the head symbol. Alternatively, sliders can be used to set the positions (including along the vertical Z dimension), as well as source gains and the listener azimuth. The simulated acoustic environment can be chosen from three different rooms with different sizes. Current settings can be copied in a text format to and from the clipboard. The unique mirroring function lets you create a balanced stereo setup simply by pressing a button. Above, this is a part of the App Store description… There are 3 rooms, a small, a medium and large. There are no preset library in the Stand Alone and IAA version but the copy and paste feature only and perhaps that this option is much more better, because it’s not a Reverb. Or a Reverb that works in the opposite side... Here, the settings are for you, the listener and the 2 input sources. To be able to move the listener and the 2 input sources with you fingers, it's Top. You can easily follow the images from a movie while you are making the sound design, or even the soundtrack in a DAW like Auria. , it's top! . VirtualRoom AU can be used by sound engineers, sound designers, musicians, videos editor, even Djs. The processed signal is great, the UI too (you can work on several VirtualRoom plugins at the same time), so without any hesitation, VirtualRoom is a Killers App, a Must Have! Audio Unit (plugins) / IAA / Stand Alone Review by Ed soundruufe it's 5 Lanes (tracks), 8 FXs, 2 recording Buffers (inputs) and another that will input the output signal of the App. 5 lanes,. 3 different kinds of lanes. 1) The 2 Small lanes. FXs available for this lanes: Reverse, Repeat, Reverse, Granular Freeze, Granular Scrub, fft Freeze Freeze, fft Scrub, and Scratch. Touch the lane to apply the selected effect to the Input signal. 2) The 2 Standard lanes. Here, no Repeat and Reverse, but a Looper. Or the Loopers... As much Loopers as you like to a lane. Tap the lane to add a looper. You can set the length of the Loop, play it in reverse mode, restart it and pause it. Note that the 2 Buffers are really great while using the Looper. Check out the video demo... The Standard lane allows you to use the Y axis for one of the available parameters of the selected FX. The other parameters can be displayed on the left side of a lane as a fader. 3) The Bipolar lane is similar to a standard lane. The only difference is that this lane allows you to control the pitch and the speed at the same time. This lane is divided in two at its middle. Note also that there are 3 toolbars. It's really important to understand them and use them. Check out the tutorial.... In summary: Soundfruuze is a crazy App, very powerful and versatile. Even a DJ can use it. You can use it with any kinds of audio sources. You can you use it on a mix, as a Drone. Soundfruuze is an Audiobus and IAA plugins, but you can also use it as a Stand Alone App. A Killer App, a Must Have for everyone who like to play with sounds.
Review by Ed A Comb Filter & a Ring Modulator, both in the same App. 2 effects that I really love to use with any kind of audio source to create a Rhythmic pattern, to add an Electro side to a natural Drum, and sometimes also when I have no idea about what to do. With Ringabell I have this, but much more than this because of the of the Comb & the Ring automation parameters. They add a new dimension to these 2 effects and new horizons to the user. The Comb Filter comes with 3 rotating knobs. Time, Feedback and Mix. The Comb automation with an Order knob: Off, Sine, Saw Up, Saw Dawn, Triangle and Random. A Rate, a Min and a Max value knobs. These 2 last ones allow you to set the range in milliseconds. Pause! I don’t know if you know what is exactly a Comb Filter effect… why Ringabell comes with an Order selection knob for the waveform, why the range values are set in milliseconds, so, here a little description: “A comb filter adds a delayed version of a signal to itself, causing the constructive and destructive interference. The frequency response of a comb filter consists of a series of regularly spaced notches, giving the appearance of a comb. Audio effects, including echo, flanging, and digital waveguide synthesis. For instance, if the delay is set to a few milliseconds, a comb filter can be used to model the effect of acoustic standing waves in a cylindrical cavity or in a vibrating string.” Now the Ring Modulator: this time I will start wit a simple description. A ring modulator multiplies two signals together to create two brand-new frequencies which are the sum and difference of the input frequencies. So, in the Ring Modulator window, we have 3 rotating knobs. Speed, Depth and Shape. The shape will determinate the waveform of the new output signal: Cosine, Sawtooth, Square, Triangle or Noise. (Noise, it's great for a Ring Modulator...) The Ring Automation window is the same as the Comb one. In summary: Ringabell is much more powerful than most of the Ring Modulator or Comb Filter that I have ever used in my life. Here you can create a lot of sounds, even an Arpeggio from any kind of input signal. What I really love is that it’s not a “Usine à gaz” in French, in English: a Gas Factory, which means that it’s not a complex App to use. The cherry on the cake: all Comb Filter effects can be used as a Flanger, the Rate here allows you to set it as a Tremolo too. A Killer App, a Must Have!
Review by Ed 3oomph manual About I don’t think you’ll be needed instructions to use such simple app. But anyway, let me describe some basics. Also I recorded demonstration, so you maybe don’t even need to read my limping English :) Controls. All of my last apps use similar controls. Donut-shaped knobs and 3 buttons atop of each one. Knobs are obviously to control parameters and buttons to switch randomisers for minimum, middle and maximum range of the values. Route. From Input sound runs to clean-to-output stream and to 4 different distortions. BOOGY, WOOGY and FUZZY are brings different tastes to deformations, but all close to usual distortions and overdrive pedals. BUZZY is bit-crusher, you can change deepness of effect with “muzzy” knob. After balancing your destructions you can shave some spikes with lowpass filter. Lines under knobs are shows attitude between modules, but all 4 distortions receive input independently parallel and spit chowed waves to lowpass. All chain may be written like: input – [BOOGY|WOOGY|FUZZY|BUZZY] – lowpass – output input – clean – output Settings. You can save your setup in presets and you’ll find some examples already preinstalled. In Settings view placed unlocks for randomisation function. If you want to randomise effect with input, clean, output and/or 3-buttons – you’ll need to check desired switches. Change how app starts: with default, restored from las session or randomised state. Knobs are supports 3 interaction style: swipe horizontal, vertical or rotate touch around to change knobs values. Below is located buttons to open intro, go to site or Appstore and import factory presets. And if you are connected to IAA host, you’ll see transport controls here. My turn, now… (with my perfect English…) 3oomph is the new App from Savelii Kaliupanov, the specialist of the randomizer effects. I really really love all the Apps from this developer: Deregulator and Lalalab, Self a Fuzz and ZhSh. 2 randomizers Delay effects and 2 randomizers Filter / Distortion effects. 3oomph is a randomizer Distortion effect and perhaps my favourite App from Savelly. I had so much “fun” with it yesterday and today shaping the sound of a few drum machines, synthesizers, guitars and even voices… The randomizers are so great even if you use them on the input, output signal and the Clean “donut - shape knob”. It’s always very hard to describe a randomizer App, why you love it or not. For myself, the first criterion is: will I use it someday or not? At this question, the answers is: yes, sure. So sure that I already did it! A Killer App! A Must Have for everybody who like to play with sounds! (Watch the video demo…)
A great review here... Weird without the tutorial... Sure that it will help you a lot. So, since this review, only the Ableton Link has been added. The last update was released in May of this year, but no iOS 11 compatibility at this moment... I hope that they will update their Apps, because I really love Egoïst. Published on 23 Sep 2013 Wow Filterbox... Wahooo!!! I'm totally convinced! I'm (totally) convinced by: Its UI, beautiful, Double Tap to zoom, Easy to understand... The sound it generates!!! The FUN!!! The Virtual Midi, the AudioCopy / Paste, the Recorder looper, the Preset Library... To conclude, watch the Video Demo, listen to the Audio Demo... Wow is Wahooo!!! Review by Ed App Store description:

Humans too… I also don’t really like sometimes when I can read this kind of thing: Audiobus vs AUM... I love and I need both of them... One of the day I will add a Audiobus with AUM post and show the incredible things that we can do with these 2 Apps... If I am talking about this, it is because 3 or 4 days ago, I posted the review of another Chorus: FAC Chorus. A Killer Chorus, a Must Have Chorus, and right now I am writing the review of another Chorus: VC-1. A Killer Chorus. A Must Have Chorus too! But, just by a look at their Videos Demo, you will see and hear that the generated sound is totally different. Both are great and unique and can or must have their place in your Plugins library. So, now let’s talk about VC-1. Only... VC-1 it’s not 1, but 3 chorus. 3 unique Chorus: Analog, Digital, Vintage Digital. With one tap, your sound will be transformed and this with the same settings. Thus is really, really great because you can work on your sound, try to find the best setting and just with one Tap you will totally change its colour. A warm and bass sound for the Analog algorithm, more bright, with high frequencies with the Digital one, and more dark with The Vintage Digital, more “noisy” too. Now, from the left: a fixed 3 band split input section. Not so usual to find an Eq in a Chorus, but it should… most of the time when I am using a Chorus, I need to insert an EQ to my channel (Pre). The second column: first knob: Stage. 3 Chorus Stages that you can set in parallel or serial by using the 2 switches locate at the bottom of this column. Between, the delay time. The third columns. The first 2 knobs. Modulation Frequency and amount. Below 2 other switches. Sine: Sinusoïdale LFO: what we can find in a classical Chorus and Noise: what we can not find in a classical Chorus. More,? I don’t know how to explain… less conventional,…. Watch the video demo…. the fourth column, also not so usual to find in a Chorus, but it should. An Advanced Dimension D style stereo coupling, a Stereo Animator & true stereo processing throughout. The last column, a mix button a low and high shelf. In summary: VC-1 is a classic delay with un classic features. As all the App from this developer (one of my favourite one), you can find the Ableton Link feature, a Tap Tempo button, and you can control all the parameters from VC-1 with an external controller or another App. In summary: VC-1 is a classic Chorus, with a lot of great and unusual features for a Chorus… there are not there to transform this Chorus into another effect, but they allows you to work better on a sound. Also, one really great thing is that you will not loose some dynamic by using it… And this is really cool… A Killer App. A must Have!
Review by Ed Deregulator has been released a long time ago in the App Store. June, 7 2014… more than 3 years now… when it was released it was the first randomizer effect and it’s was really crazy to have an App like this in our iDevices. 3 years after, Deregulator is still unique and awesome… sure that some other randomiser effect were released in the App Store , even by this developer, but Deregulator is still an awesome tool for playing with sound. What kind of sound? All kinds… A voice, a Drum, what you like. The best when you want to use it is to decide if you want to totally “destroy” your input signal or just add a weird effect on a track… for the first choice, you can insert it to a track, for the second choice it’s better to use it as an Aux… this will give you more flexibility while you will shaping the input signal. The effect consists of 3 linked modules: Echo, Delay and Reverberator. All these effects can be randomize from a different way. You can even randomize the output signal of a module to another… Deregulator is a Killer and creative App! A Must Have! Review by Ed |
