TouchBells, it's 3 melodic Percussion intruments: à Vibraphone, a Xylophone and a Tubular Bells. We can not really say that this App is for Pro musicians because of its lack of features that we need to have as the Audiobus, Inter App or MIDI ones. Despite this the sound quality is really good, the Keys are touch sensitive and the polyphonic. You can record your performances and share them via iTunes files sharing or email m4a or TouchBells file. A learn mode allows you to learn the 25 songs included in the songs library. To conclude... A Super App!

This App is terrific! Awesome! I will keep it into my iPad until the end... I mean, not the end of my iPad... My end... Why? Because this App can convert a sheet music into a MIDI file! Multi voices sheet = Multi MIDI file channels! Sheet Music Scanner can also convert a music sheet into an Audio or a XML doc. Play it also. You can select an instrument from the built in sound library (Check out this list in the tutorial below), transpose your music sheet by semitones, set the pitch in hertz and the Tempo. How it works? You take a photo with the camera of your iDevice or import a file from you camera roll, another App,... Then you light your cigarette, and you play the sheet music. Does it works well? Very well? Watch the video demo... To conclude: Sheet Music Scanner is great for people who can not read a music score. Great for those who like me, need the same time to read a page of a music score as the Cancer Ward Novel by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn ... Awesome for those who can read As SLow aS Possible - from John Cage as fast as this review but need to convert it to an audio or MIDI file.. A Killer App, a Must Have! Review by Ed URC is really awesome. The App Store description is totally honest and explain everything better than I can do. So, this is the App Store description. In bold characters my comments... The Ultimate Rhythm Coach is your own personal teacher and the best rhythm-training tool that’s always at your fingertips! Yes, it's true, URC is really awesome because it comes with a lot of features that you will never see in another App. The Ultimate Rhythm Coach is full of settings and features designed to make your learning experience easier and better while also providing nearly infinite new ways to challenge yourself. I also think that URC can be a great tool for music teachers.... The Ultimate Rhythm Coach uses traditional music notation, and with it you can create customized rhythm exercises or simply generate an exercise using only the notes and note groupings you want to practice. You can even create and save custom rhythmic figures to include in generated exercises! So easy! So fast! Unique to the Ultimate Rhythm Coach is the ability to program your own metronome completely independent of the exercise’s time signature. First of the first awesome feature that I have never seen in another App... Exercises can be saved, printed, and shared via email, SMS, messengers, and social media. Features include: Visual Read Ahead: The exercise will disappear at the specified distance (in 16th-note increments) ahead of the cursor to develop the ability to "read ahead". Second Unique feature... A great idea! Loop Areas: Isolate selected portions of an exercise to repeat. Mute Areas: Turn off the audio for selected portions of an exercise to test your timing accuracy. Third one, and one more time a great idea! Easy Notation input / edit: Unlike a lot of notation software, entering and editing notation with URC is user-friendly. Advanced Metronome: Compose a metronome that is independent of the exercise. Program a syncopated 7/8 click to play underneath your 4/4 exercise! Multiple Time Signatures in one exercise: Easily create mixed-meter exercises. Tuplets: Create complex polyrhythmic figures in subdivisions of 3, 5, and 7 Hide Playback Cursor: Challenge your ability to follow along without the aid of the playhead. Good idea... Hide Bar Lines: A unique challenge to test your ability to accurately read rhythm without the reference of bar lines. Too... Count-Off options: Select a 0, 1, or 2-bar count-off, or 1 bar each of the Basic and Advanced metronomes. Visual Metronome: An option to have the screen flash in time with the metronome. Exercise Library: Save your created exercises or practice with one of the many pre-loaded exercises. Sound Bank: Change the sound of the metronome and the exercise playback. Audio Pan: Pan the exercise and metronome independently to R/L channels. To conclude, URC is really awesome, very very well think. It can be use by all musicians from beginners to experts. By music teachers too. A Killer App! A Must Have! Review by Ed & the developer Live Chopz allows you to slice a song into sections then to play these sections in loop mode or not, to jump to a section to another (with a simple tap), to duplicate a section or re order them, to add a chopped song to the setlist library (to play all of them). (Auto-Advance to next song in SetList). How it works? First you have to import a track (mp3, wav,aiff,m4a,mp4 files.) into Live Chopz from another App, Audio Share, Dropbox, or iTunes files sharing. Then done you load your song. The Auto detect Tempo feature will detect the BPM of your track. Note that this feature works very very well. If your track has not a constant Tempo, no problem, you can set a different Tempo for each sections of your track manually or with the Auto detect feature Then done, you jump to the editor. You play your song and tap on the scissor tool to slice your track. Name each sections with pre-defined song section part labels or create a custom one. This done you sync the track to the metronome and your chopped song is ready to play. To conclude, Live Chopz is very well done and very easy to use. The App is much more powerful that I thought the first time I launched it. Yes, a lot of editing features are “hidden” and this is really smart… because of this, you can chop a track very fast without to take care of all the others available features (if everything is OK). A remote is also available allowing you to connect wirelessly up to 7 devices. The remote displays the currently playing & upcoming song section. Check out the tutorial to see all the available features. A Killer App, a Must Have! Review by Ed An App for Drummers. A practicing tool very easy to use and very well done. “pttrN for drummers » is a random pattern generator. It creates and plays an infinite number of one bar grooves in 4/4, 3/4, 5/4, 12/8 and 7/8. Choose your Hi-Hat figure, pttrN takes care of everything else !” - You can add a snare drum on 2 and 4, or 3. In « FREE » mode, the snare placement is random. - You can choose the maximum number of notes in a row (2 by default, 128 max). - Choose the level : « EASY » mode generates 8th note grooves. MEDIUM, NORMAL and HARD modes generate 16th note grooves with different note density in one bar. (« NORMAL » means that the probability for a snare, a kick or a silence is equal). A cool feature allows you to add a bass line to the patterns in the Setting page. A Mixer allows you to set the volume between the metronome, the drums sound and the bass. An AUTO-CHANGE button will generate a new Groove at the end of the playing pattern. (In the Setting page you can set the number of bar for a pattern (up to 64). A practice time is also display on the screen. In summary, a great App for Drummers who like to practice their instrument. Perhaps that the only thing that I would like to have in a future update is a save pattern feature, (if you need to work on a specific pattern for several days). A Super App!, a Must Have! Note that you can change the language of the App to French which can be really useful for Drummers because we all know that Drummers have a little brain. No, I am kidding… Sorry… All my apologies... Stupid French musicians joke... Sorry again.... Review by Ed
This App is a practicing tool. The goal is to help you to work on your music's exercises everyday. To know how many time you worked on a specific exercise, how many loops you played it. The App works like this: first you create a Folder. Live, School,… inside this folder, you add your exercises: Song 1, Set 1, 120 BPM,… what you like, or should I say, what you have to work on. In an exercise page, you can add as many song as you like from your Music Library. You can also record your practicing or something that you listen at school and would like to practice. For each of these tracks, you will be able to set a Loop, to change the speed from -40% to +200%. You will be also able to write a note. A metronome as well as a tuner are also available!
The App is very easy to use, works very well. A Super App!

If you are reading the What's hot today post? every days, you can see that a lot of time I can't not remember an App that I have reviewed in the past or that I own. I remember this one. Perfectly.... If you are musician, if you have a child, and if you like that he learn music, Kids ear training is certainly the best App for them. Check out the review below. Unfortunately, the Apps4idevices website has been deleted a few years ago, so you will not be able to find the check list at the end of this post... Published on 19 Sep 2013 This App is wonderful, it is made for kids who want to practice their ear. The App works like most of the Ear Training Apps, but the developer team has added a lot of Sound Fx, voices, background music which makes this App more attractive. The exercises are also specially made with them in mind.At the beginning, they will have to recognise a higher or a lower sound, then a bend up or down. After, same as for us, "the big stuff", the keys. But here the developer has made Ear Training Kids easier for them, because they will progress step by step. For example, they will have to recognize a C from a D, after a C, a D or a E and so on.If they answer right, they win points, if not they lose points.I really love this App, because here, you don't have bears, monkeys, cats, dogs, but a little poetic universe made for your little love. A Killer App! I forgot one thing... On the Main page, a button allows you to change the game mode... All the Sets included... Incredible! From easy to advanced, fun, hard,... Check the list out, at the end of this post... Review from Ed App Store description:
Kids Ear Training by mDecks Music is ideal for kids studying an instrument and/or in choir. This is a complete ear training method containing: Introduction to Sound, Solfege, Kodaly Signs, Movable Do, Perfect Pitch, Intervals and Triads. You will learn how a musical element sounds (alone and in context) by searching for it. Kids Ear Training was designed to introduce essential musical elements and concepts and help the student identify those elements by ear. The app has a guided study mode, in which the student progress is taken into account to determine when he/she is ready to advance to the next level. You will learn essential sound concepts such as: Low vs. High pitched. Ascending/descending/constant pitch, etc. Fun elements recognition such as: animal sounds, instruments and instruments families (Brass, Woodwinds, Strings...) Movable Do (relative pitch) vs. Perfect pitch: Solfege, Kodaly Signs, Perfect Pitch by note name/ music notation (test if you can develop perfect pitch and learn relative pitch with ease) All Intervals: Major, minor, Perfect, augmented, diminished Intervals are presented alone and in context All Triads: Major, minor, augmented, diminished. Triads are presented alone and in context Features: Study Modes: Guided Study Mode: The app controls the levels availability based on your progress Free Study Mode: You can play any stage and level freely. Endurance Mode on/off: The next exercises starts immediately after. Music Notation on/off: You may enable music notation (when available) if you want to recognize musical elements using prefect pitch (if you have it) and/or music theory (by recognizing the requested item from the staff) Wave String: You may view the signature wave of an interval, triad or seventh if you want to use a visual input as an aid in memorizing the sound. Volume Balance: control between the background music (context) and the sound behind the circles. Statistics: A record of your performance is kept in the stats panel (one for the free mode and one for the guided mode) I am really sad that all the App from Walter Beasley have been removed from the App Store. I don't know why... But this guy was and is still (I hope) a great Saxophone player.... Published on 20 Sep 2013 With Hip Hop / Groove Improvisation you will have as teacher, Walter Beasley. He is a famous jazzman and a Professor of Performance at Berklee College. The App comes with a big video. 45 minutes... 17 examples or lessons are included and marked in this video. For these lessons, Walter Beasley uses a Keyboard also, which is really cool... We can hear with our eyes also... more easier to understand... Each example comes with a music sheet. You also have a Scales library and a Practice mode: play over a track. A Super App! Review by Ed Here an typical example of the way I am rating an App… I was writing this review, and suddenly a big doubt… what is the App Store description? what is the purpose of this App? So, please wait me 2 minutes, I come back… I did right… no apologies post tomorrow… so, AudioStretch is an Audio & Video transcription tool. You can import a video from your camera roll, iCloud Drive, the open in feature of another App or record it directly within the App. An audio track can be imported from your Music Library, iCloud Drive, the open in feature of another App and AudioShare. In the Setting menu, an option allows you to import and display your video. This is great! It will be displayed as a little vignette on the left side of the screen, and can be set to a “full” screen mode. The full screen mode will hide the Audio waveform displayed in the middle of the screen. The nice thing is that you can still scrub or freeze the Audio in this mode. To help you for your transcription, you can add as may markers as you like. Unfortunately you are not able to name them. You can set a loop, change the speed of the imported track and the pitch also. Speed from -10 to 0 reverse mode and 0 to 10 times. Pitch + or - 36 semitones. Also a little keyboard can be displayed above the waveform playing a string/oboe sound. I am not really sure… playing a sound… to conclude: AudioStretch is very well done, but without a pen and a piece of paper,.. This is my little problem with this App. All the features are great but where can you write your transcription? At the beginning I thought it was a practice tool for musicians or a tool for sound engineers. Fortunately, I checked out the App Store description. Fortunately, because a stretching App without Tempo information is useless. Here you can display the BPM ID3 tag,. I had a look in the App Store… Impossible to find an App which allows you to edit the BPM ID3 tag. (A message to all developers: a Pro ID3 editor App for iOS musicians...). So to conclude my conclusion… I have the feeling that AudioSretch is in between.. For example, the sharing feature… if it’s a transcription tool, what is the interest? what is the interest to share my audio or my video without any info? Why, even if it's cool, the Audiobus and the IAA features? Also, the keyboard is very very small. A Good App that could have been a Super App even a Killer App if it was provided with a text editor and the possibility of naming the markers. With this feature, even people who works in the Video, Cinema, TV, etc, would be able to use this App. PS I have just seen the full name of this App...
Review by Ed Too bad for the suspense but Capo touch is awesome! A Chord detector for Guitar, Bass (4, 5, 6 strings), Ukulele and 5 strings Banjo players. The App is very, very well done with a great UI that makes it so easy to use. So, you add an audio track from your Music Library, iCloud Drive, Audio Share or another App via the Open in feature. Then you open it. Capo Touch will detect the Chords (Fast), the Tempo and will display the waveform and the detected Chords in a Timeline. The first view displays the Bar and Beat. Great! (You can use Capo Touch as a Bar counter too. A lot of Loopers needs that you indicate the number of Bars when you are importing a soundfile…). In this view you can change the Tempo. In the second view you can stretch your track! The chords will follow! You can add regions and loop them. Add chords and replace a detected chord by another one. (Capo Touch comes with a huge library of chords). The Capo feature is great too. Set the position of your capo and Capo touch will show you the new fingering. Also a feature allows you to isolate a range of frequency, to solo or mute them. In summary Capo Touch is the best App in this category and it works very very well. Capo Touch is perfect! To be perfect you need to work a lot, every time. So, I have 2 suggestions for a future update. The first one is a PDF sharing feature with the Bars and the associated chords. The second one is a midi out implementation which can be great for a keyboard player. He will be able to use Capo touch too, and others to use it as a midi chords detector and player. Capo Touch is a Killer App, a Must Have! |
