No App of the day today Something from Yonac will happen soon, but at this moment I didn't understand what it is, so if somebody knows... Also I will launch the Countdown for the Sunday Contest #013 in a few hours. I want to apology for launching the Countdown very late since 2 weeks... Also I would like to thanks all of you for your support, help and infos. Today a special thanks to Jake. (Check out the Snap views on YouTube... Magic!) Thanks also to DK, Daniel, Andrew, Rafael, Rolf, Diego and all the developers! Have a nice day or night depending of where you are in the Galaxy! My best Ed Kap! PS Sure that I forgot to mention somebody in my thanks so all my apologies to him, or them.... S - Modular is really original. A great concept. It’s not a real synthesizer because it doesn’t come with a keyboard and it doesn’t support the Midi too. It’s more a Drone Machine, a Noise Generator, a Bass Liner, or a 4 steps Arpeggiator. before describing all the features, I would like to talk about a few things that I really love in this App. First, the wires colour that you can change with a singleTap. It’s simple, but it helps you a lot when you are using a lot of connections. Secondly, the 4 steps sequencer with its 3 tracks and 3 VC outputs. In play mode, it’s a “conventional” sequencer. In pause mode, you can select the step to be played. To finish, all the sound generator modules come with a VC output. The modules: 1/ 2 Oscillators with 4 waveforms types and a noise option, an octave, a semitone and a fine tune settings. CV input & output. 2/ 2 LFOs with 2 rotary knobs. They allow you to mix 2 of the 3 waveforms and shapes types available. A rate, a fade knobs, a sync Tempo and a Pre switches. 2 CV output. 3/ A low pass filter with a resonance, a cut-off and a modulation. A CV input is also present. 4/ A high and low pass filter with a cut-off frequency, a peak, a modulation and a CV input too. 5/ 2 ADSRs with CV output. 6/ 2 Amp modules, with 2 CV inputs (1 for the modulation), 2 outputs for each. 7/ A delay: speed, feedback and mix with a low and high pass. 8/ A Mixer with 4 inputs 1 Master output and 2 sub outputs. 9/ A Master out section with a LP 12 filter mix. 10/ To finish a 3 tracks sequencer. To tell you the truth, usually, I am not a big fan of modular Apps because I love to work fast, but here, no problem because S - Modular is very easy to use and also very well done. The generated sound is great. A Killer App!
Review by Ed In my review below I was talking about details, but I forgot to mentioned one... The Oscillator is developed by Jonatan Liljedahl / Kymatica. AUM, Audio Share, BitWiz, Sector, and the Aufx plugins! Since this review, an On / Off swidtch, display pitches as MIDI note number in addition to frequency in Hz, a Pan parameter for each oscillator and a few improvements. The last update was released 1 month ago: iOS 11 ready! Another detail: the Oscillator is tsotally Free! Published on 9 May 2013 This App has 2 Oscillators, one Noise generator, each with individual lowpass filters and the Audiobus feature... The Audiobus, a detail? No it isn't... Why? Because you will be able to use The Oscillator as a Drone, a Noise and an Fx machine as well... Watch the demo video... Another detail... I don 't know how the developer made this, but the sensation when you dragging a slider is really cool... A Killer oscillator! Review by Ed App Store description: Simple and elegant tone generator with two Oscillators and one Noise generator, each with individual lowpass filters. The oscillators also has panning, and can produce one of four waveforms: sine, triangle, sawtooth and square. The oscillator frequencies can be tuned precisely in Hz or fractional MIDI note pitch. Use it for testing purposes or to make old-school electronic drone music. Supports Audiobus and Inter-App Audio: Stream the audio output in real time into other compatible apps! OS >= 9.0 So, this will be the Drum Machine from Reactable. I don't know what Reachable means to you, but for me, it means innovation. And SNAP is an innovative Drum Machine! Here it's the beta 2, the beta 1 was released this morning. In the Video below, I show you a little bit of the innovative features that we will be able to find in the definitive version. I am not allowed to tell you more about it at this moment, but SNAP is designed for live performances also and because of this, something really awesome is on a way... So, a,ew video soon... Enkl is a monophonic synthesizer developed by Klevgränd produkter AB. (Among my favourite developer team). First a little overview. 2 Oscillators, 2 LFOs with an ADSR sections on the left and right side of the screen. 3 buttons at the top of the screen control how the two oscillators are combined;: added together, subtracted from one another or multiplied. In the middle of the screen, the last section where the signal will transit before to output, with an High Cut filter and an ADSR. An FX button will open a pop-up for the delay and EQ parameters. A ping Pong delay with a stereo width. EQ: 3 bands with the ability to set the cut-off points between the 3 bands. This is cool! Also on the top, a Legato and an Arpeggio switches. For the 2 Oscillators, 4 waveforms: triangle, sawtooth, square or noise. The filter button for each oscillator controls whether the central filter section is applied or not. The 3 pitch sliders control the octave, semitone and cent-level tuning. An independent LFO for each of the 2 oscillators: 5 waveform types with a button to switch between amplitude or frequency modulation of the oscillator, an ADSR envelope with a gain and frequency controls. For the keyboard: by default, a small, one-octave keyboard with 2 arrows on the left side to shift the octave. On the right side a magnifying glass icon. A Tap on it will display a larger keyboard with more options. A Scale, Key and Octave settings. When a note is touched, drag left or right to pitch bend.By touching and dragging the note’s Y-axis, the extended keyboard can affect filter or modulation. (It is possible to assign filter or modulation to the Y-axis). Now for the sound: I really love it! Great for Bass and Lead. In summary, Enkl is very well done, very easy to use. The keyboard is great and the generated sound top! It’s a very good option to create a Bass line sound very fast. A Killer little monophonic synthesizer!
Review by Ed i would like to apology for the no post but I was working on a casting... 2 Apps of the day. Narrow & Soundfruuze! 2 great Apps! I also played with the new App from DesignByPaul. 'soundfruuze' is an exprerimental live sampler / looper / granular and FFT scrub effect It records live the recent 10 seconds of audio and allows you to manipulate it with special controls. The interface is divided into five “lanes”, sound is produced by touching the lanes. Each lane can be set up to use different effect and has various control parameters mapped to the touch position: Scratch Most basic lane type. You can control the volume of the resulting sound and smoothness of the position interpolation. Lesser smooth value produces the sound with more high frequencies. Granular Freeze Allows you to select the sound at some position and use both horizontal and vertical coordinates of touch as 2 independent parameters. You can control volume, playback speed (pitch) and the grain size. Granular Scrub This type of lane is very similar to granular freeze but it allows to change the position of the grain after its start. FFT Freeze and FFT Scrub In both FFT types of lanes another algorithm is used to process sound. In both FFT Freeze and Scrub sound is analyzed with the FFT transform and divided into frames. FFT Freeze allows you to select the frame at the desired sample position and to play it making the sound “freeze” at this point. Looper This lane type allows you to make loops / repeat large grains of sound. When you touch a looper lane, a new looper control is created and is kept there until you turn it off with the red ‘close’ button. You can change loop speed, volume, size and position for each loop individually or for all loops on one lane together using additional controls OS >= 9.0 Drum On is still available in the App Store. The quality of the samples was really great. 2 months after my review the Audiobus feature was added. Despite this, I don't think that it's a good idea to buy this App actually. The last update was released in December 2013... Published on 9 May 2013 Drum on: Drum until your dreams come true... Before I start this review, I have to make a little correction to the App Store description... Drum on is not a Drum Machine, but a Drum Pad... The sound quality is perfect, the sample length is too. The latency seems to be close to 0... You can choose to display 8, 12 or 16 Pads on the screen. You can set the Volume, the Pan individually for each Pad. Unfortunately you can't create a custom kit.. You can add Delay, Reverb or distortion on the Master out, and change the order of the effects in series, which is really cool. Note that a specific bus for the effects would be better... You can also import a track from your Music library, loop a section and change the speed. A metronome is also available. To conclude... Drum on has a really great sound, certainly one of the best sample qualities on the App Store in the Drum Pad and Drum Machine categories with iGog... The App is very very well done, but at this time it's missing some features like the possibility to record and share your performances to make it as a Killer Drum Pad, but is only the 1.0 version... So, I suppose that it will be in a future update... A Super Drum Pad. App Store description:

Joy Division... I really love this keyboard as I love the Mellotron because of their non realistic sound. Here, it's a Solina String Ensemble (Serial number “SERIES 22, No.0093158”) manufactured by N.V. EMINENT BODEGRAVEN HOLLAND in the 70’s. The Solina can play 6 voices at the same time. 2 for the Bass, a cello and a contrabass and a violin, viola, trumpet, horn for the higher octaves. This iOS emulation comes with 2 keyboards. You can scroll each of them to set the octave. (set the volume of the Bass independently).. You can set the crescendo (the attack), the sustain length, the modulation rate as well as the depth. A switch allows you to bypass the modulation. A Spring Reverb is also available. In the second page, the Between Black notes button that we can find in all the Apps from this developer. (Check out the tutorial below), the Midi input setting and a global Tune rotary knob. So no surprise, even for the awesome generated sound of this App. You have a real Solina String Ensemble here! So without any hesitation: a Killer App, a Must Have!
The ARP String Ensemble, also known as the Solina String Ensemble, is a fully polyphonic multi-orchestral synthesizer with a 49-key keyboard, produced by Eminent BV (known for their Solina brand), distributed by ARP Instruments from 1974 to 1981. The sounds it incorporates are violin, viola, trumpet, horn, cello, and contrabass. The keyboard uses 'organ style' divide-down technology to make it polyphonic. The built-in chorus effect gives the instrument its distinctive sound.
The core technology is based on the string ensemble section of the Eminent 310 Unique electronic organ in 1972, manufactured by the Dutch company Eminent BV.[1] The main oscillator consists of twelve discrete tone generators with octave divide-down to provide full polyphony; and the built-in chorus effect utilizes bucket-brigade devices (BBDs) controlled by two LFOs to create the characteristic vibrato. |
