sonogrid is a sequencer. A MIDI sequencer. Like no others.. And one more time, I am impressed by the creativity of developers. It's a one pattern sequencer. Yes! One pattern only! But you will be able to do what you like with this pattern without to have to programing.. For working on a beat, on an idea, it's an extraordinary tool! Now I will try to explain the concept and how works this App. Not easy.. If I wanted to resume sonogrid, I could say that it's a stretching sequencer witch allows you to stretch a track from both side... A 16 steps (not real steps) pattern for 16 tracks. (The best is that you watch the video below before that you read my explanation... Not easy to find the good words in English to me) So first you choose a template. Then you create a track. The number of steps / By choosing 4 steps, your sequence will play 1 beat with 4 sixteen notes for 2 steps.. If you stretch your pattern to 2 steps to the right by moving the handle on the right of your track, you will play 2 beats with 4 eighteen notes and 2 steps more you will play 4 beats | Same if you stretch to the Left... Sure, you can decide to play a step or not. Once you have created a track, you will have to choose the MIDI channel if you don't want to use the internal soundbank. Then, the Scale, the Root note. You will have to un select the Autamic note to be able to select a desire note. Add your tracks to your pattern then stretch your track from both side to the right. This is awesome! Now there is a menu. The tools. Here you will be able to more things. Mute | Solo | Delete a track | Add or delete a step | Multiply or divide the number of steps | Randomize, Activate or Deactivate the steps | Invert, Move to the right or the Left or Flip the activated steps | Lock or Unlock a track | Duplicate and Subdivide a track | set all the track's Note to the Automatic note (Root note | Set all track's notes to +1 or- 1 semitones | Spread or Serial the notes of 2 selected tracks. Note that you can select as many track as you like while you are using these tools At the end you will be able to export a .ison file of your project. To conclude I really hope that you will watch the video below. sonogrid is awesome.. Really.. So awesome that I want more... A really great thing will be to have the possibility to set the track volume.. And even if I understand that this sequencer has been created for making beats and polyrhythm,, I would be really happy to be able to set the notes length. To play a Chord too.. Sonogrid is a Killer App! If I am not saying a Must Have it's only because of it's particularly. But if you like Polyrhythm or work fast as I love sonogrid can be your perfect companion. SettingsThe App Store descriptionsonogrid helps you deeply explore music.
You can use it like a drum machine, an advanced metronome, an ear trainer, compositional sketchpad, or just to have fun with sound and music. No musical experience is necessary to enjoy the app, and that's what makes it fun, but certain features might feed your creativity if you already make music. For musicians, there are new time signatures, polyrhythms, scales, and the possibility to combine any of them in new ways. For dancers, a highly-flexible accompaniment that never needs to stop. For teachers, a clear way to represent time and help students understand the space between beats. For improvisers, something fun to play along with and to take you to new spaces. For composers, a way of exploring complex rhythmic ideas and layering without heavy symbolic language. For music nerds, plans cancelled. Use the app's powerful features for beat making, ear training, keeping time, performing, and creative exploration. Most importantly, have fun! * * * FEATURES * * * 1. Tenori to the limit. The familiar step sequencer has been transformed to be more flexible, but the idea of turning notes 'on' and 'off' is the same. 2. Part imagination, part puzzle. The main concept is to put looping rhythms on the screen in a way that they all relate to each other. Transform rhythms visually by shifting, stretching, and snapping. 3. Easy button or eighty-eight keys? Notes are selected automatically by default so that you can start quickly, but if you need more control you can manually select one for each track from a full-size piano keyboard. 4. Plays nice with others. The app comes with many built-in instruments but you can also send notes live to other apps if you want to have custom sounds. You can send MIDI out (maybe to a synthesizer app like Audulus, or a DAW on your computer like Ableton Live). You can also export your project to a standard MIDI file which can be played back on any device. 5. You already know how to use it. The interface is similar to multi-track recording software so you can mute, solo, move, stretch, and manage tracks intuitively. 6. You've got options. The powerful transformations on each track are easy to access and understand. No mystery-meat navigation. 7. More than 2, 4, 8, 16. The app is designed as a creative tool, with a screen that's mostly a blank canvas for your ideas. It is a new way to explore the deep world of rhythm, and with virtually infinite possibilities you are not limited to even numbers. 8. When does it line up? The phase is automatically calculated so you know when the pattern will repeat. 9. 21st century notation. Specifying simple and complex rhythms is completely effortless without western classical music notation - you have never felt anything like this. 10. Birds eye view. Projects are saved automatically with a zoomed out view so you can identify it. Add a name later, when you are ready. * * * BUG REPORTS, SUPPORT, FEEDBACK * * * From within the app, tap the Info button (i), then select 'Send Feedback'. Version 1.1.1 release notes• Bug fixes
