In France we don't say Review We are saying Critique. Critic Talking bad about something or somebody. I am French, so if I have to make The perfect review of FM Player: Classic DX Synths. I have to find something to criticize. It's not so easy, because this App is Free. It's an Audiobus App, Inter App too. Core MIDI with a MIDI learn feature for all parameters... The sound quality is awesome... But, to unlock all presets, you have to enter your email... And? Nothing... I never received an email from AudioKit... A big problem for my review... So, tired of looking for a mistake, no longer hoping for a spam from them, I finally decided to post my review ... And there, hallelujah! I found it. The Mistake! if you zoom in and look closely at the app icon, you will see a little white color on its outline! Ouf, I'm safe! I can finally post my review without fear of being a bad French critic! A Killer App! A Must Have despite the litle white color...

Hyperion Synthesizer is? A little synthesizer! A MIDI & Audio Unit little FM synthesizer. It doesn’t come with a lot of parameters, so you have to like the base sound. 4 morph modes To shape the sound, a Morph speed control - a Morph depth control - a phase shift control - a stereo shift control - a tremolo sound effect - a reverb effect - a volume control - a envelope controls (ASR) - 7 harmonics modes - To conclude: The Stand alone version and the Audio Unit version are exactly the same. Hyperion is very simple, so very easy to use. Watch and listen at the same time to the video and make your own opinion about it. A very good little Synthesizer or a Super it le synthesizer ? That only depends of your own taste...
This is the App Store description: GyroSynth is a finalist in 'Most Innovative App' category at the 2010 Best App Ever Awards (148apps). GyroSynth is a gesture driven music synthesizer, which takes full adventage of the gyroscope. You can play and modulate the sound by moving your hand through the air - just like the legendary Theremin instrument. GyroSynth makes use of the gyroscope to measure true roll, pitch, and yaw and translates them to sound parameters like pitch, volume, modulation or filter cutoff. Thanks to phenomenal accuracy (2000 degrees), you can play melodies perfectly in tune. Minimum requirements: iPhone 4 or iPod Touch 4th generation FEATURES - Synthesizers: vocal (formant synthesizer), sine wave , square (PWM modulation), saw, granular sample player with recording function and R2D2 - experimental FM modulation - Effects: delay and boost - Several control modes - Included musical scales allow you to effortlessly play in several styles - Built-in recorder and player with overdub function "There isn’t too much more to say about GyroSynth other than wow!" AppSafari Enjoy the new experience! OS >= 9.0 1 or 2, even 3 little things that I would like to add to this description. The MIDI! You can control a,other App with it! Also,, the fun that I have each time that I play with it, even more than 7 years after. Fun, but not only. You can easily play a psychedelic solo with Gyrosynth, even if you're not a keyboard player. I love this App. If you don't have it, Gyrosynth is Free at this moment... I love BeepStreet too. A Killer App!
Review by Ed expression Pad is a little synthesizer with 2 Oscillators, a modulation module for the FM AMT, an ADSR, a mix and a Sub knobs for the 2 Oscillators, an LFO routes to a Filter module. You can save your presets. All this for Free! expressioPad it’s also a sound Expander, called sampler here. 18 presets are available. The sound quality is really cool! The Sampler is also Free! expressionPad comes also with an FX section. A Reverb, Delay, Distortion and a Fatness filter. This effects rack is also Free! expressionPad is also a Midi controller with a customisable UI. 3 keyboard layouts. Piano, Square and hexagon. You can set the number of rows and columns, the colour, the brightness, the Piano contour, the ripples, and the note’s label opacity. You can also set the row’s tuning (interval), the scale and the root note. Wait, I have to check something… This is Free also.. This App is totally Free without add! To conclude, a little synthesizer, a little sound Expander, a midi controller for Free! A very big thanks to the developer! A Killer App, a Must Have!
Review by Ed Enkl is a monophonic synthesizer developed by Klevgränd produkter AB. (Among my favourite developer team). First a little overview. 2 Oscillators, 2 LFOs with an ADSR sections on the left and right side of the screen. 3 buttons at the top of the screen control how the two oscillators are combined;: added together, subtracted from one another or multiplied. In the middle of the screen, the last section where the signal will transit before to output, with an High Cut filter and an ADSR. An FX button will open a pop-up for the delay and EQ parameters. A ping Pong delay with a stereo width. EQ: 3 bands with the ability to set the cut-off points between the 3 bands. This is cool! Also on the top, a Legato and an Arpeggio switches. For the 2 Oscillators, 4 waveforms: triangle, sawtooth, square or noise. The filter button for each oscillator controls whether the central filter section is applied or not. The 3 pitch sliders control the octave, semitone and cent-level tuning. An independent LFO for each of the 2 oscillators: 5 waveform types with a button to switch between amplitude or frequency modulation of the oscillator, an ADSR envelope with a gain and frequency controls. For the keyboard: by default, a small, one-octave keyboard with 2 arrows on the left side to shift the octave. On the right side a magnifying glass icon. A Tap on it will display a larger keyboard with more options. A Scale, Key and Octave settings. When a note is touched, drag left or right to pitch bend.By touching and dragging the note’s Y-axis, the extended keyboard can affect filter or modulation. (It is possible to assign filter or modulation to the Y-axis). Now for the sound: I really love it! Great for Bass and Lead. In summary, Enkl is very well done, very easy to use. The keyboard is great and the generated sound top! It’s a very good option to create a Bass line sound very fast. A Killer little monophonic synthesizer!
Review by Ed Orbulator consists of nine circular frequency modulated (FM) pad controllers. Parameters available: Octave shift / Attack & Decay for the Envelope / Frequency ratio & detune / Modulation index & Modulation envelope / Delay repeat & decay. Each pad has its own pitch from an assigned scale (34 scales types available). The pads independently control four synth "voices". There are 32 presets, which can be modified statically using x-y slide controllers, or dynamically by sliding your finger on the control pads. To conclude, Orbulator is a very good concept. The only little thing that miss in this App is the possibility to save our own presets. Importing our samples could be great too... I don't know if these features could be added, but if yes, sure that it could be a Killer App. A Super App!
Review by Ed Bebot is a little synthesiser. It was released a long time ago in this Galaxy and was a very innovative synth at this time. Today we can no more say this, but despite this, there is still a little thing that I really love in Bebot - Robot Synth. Something that I would be happy to have in all the Apps having a ribbon keyboard. The Autotune mode and its 4 positions: off, you play on a real ribbon with your ear. Slow and Fast, will snap “your finger” to the closest key fast or slowly. Snap, you play on a real keyboard. When the hotkeys switch is active a button allows you to Snap to the key if you have selected off, slow or fast. This is really really great! The others hotkeys are a + or - button allowing you to switch the octave. In the scale menu, you can display the note grid, the range, set the root note and the scale (custom scale). For the synthesiser, not a lot of parameters: a waveform selector (Sin, PWM, Pulse and Sawtooth) with different options depending of the selected one. An oscillator with a waveform selection too and 3 effects: Overdrive, Chorus and Delay. The generated sound is really cool and the animated robot always fun to see! A Super little synth! I forgot to talk about the looper preset... A preset will loop your notes played... Cool...
Review by Ed NFM is a virtual FM synthesizer. FM synthesizers are not my favourite ones… for example I really don’t like the DX7 which is certainly the most famous of them. So, when I launched NFM the first time, I tried to forget my personal taste and start to play. I load some preset and was very surprised by the generated sound. Cool, very cool… After, I started to use the Operator (s).I understood nothing and was a little bit disappointed. The day after, I read the user manual, and tried to use the Operators again. Hallelujah! Awesome! This is what I read: “FM Algorithm's interface is inspired by Native Instrument's FM8 FM Matrix. It allows you to wire up modulators and carriers in any way you like. Every operator can be a modulator, a carrier, or both simultaneously. Each modulator can modulate any number of carriers. For example, operator C can modulate D, E and F and send feedback to A and B operators. Tapping on an operator button (labeled A, B, C etc.) switches the active operator view.” When you look at the NFM main screen, on the left side, the FM algorithms, on the right side, the Operators. With a swipe of your finger on rectangle shape you will be able to send the output signal of an Operators to another one, with another swipe you will send the feedback of an Operator to another… it’s really great, and turns NFM into a real versatile synthesizer. You can play a percussive sound and turn it into a big pad. You can play a Pad and add noises to it. What you like... The second view of MFN is dedicated to the FX and the Output section. Check out the tutorial to see all the parameters available,. Watch the video demo to understand how it works. In summary NFM is a very powerful FM synthesizer which can make you love the FM synthesizers as it did for me. You can use it for live performances, for sound illustration, or as a classic synthesizer too. I have only one regret. It's the lack of a Midi implementation.to control tthe Operators with another App or an external keyboard. A Killer Synthesizer. A Must Have!
Review by Ed If you look at the What's hot today banner, you can see that I received most of all the Apps from Klevgränd. Even if I didn’t post all the reviews at this moment, I already played with all of them. Conclusion, Klevgränd belongs to my favourite developers. I love all their Apps, and not only the Apps from the Music category… Wizibel for example, is totally awesome… Videos editors, you can already download this App without to wait for my review… AWESOME! Jussi is my “Coup de cœur”. I love him, so much! Every time that we jam together, I ask myself: “I am sure that somebody already released a radio Hit with him’. I am sure, but if nobody did it, you should download this App and try to do something with him! I also think that Godfrapp (the band) will be really happy to know Jussi... It’s very hard to explain how a voice sound, so, the best is that you watch the 2 videos demo. (The first video shows you all the thing that Jussi can do with his voice.. The second one is from the ChordFlow review, it shows you how he can jam with you.) Jussi is not from a Western country, this is sure… Africa, South America, perhaps from the father side and Cheyenne or Sioux from his mother side… I tried to ask him a lot of time, but every time he answers. Hey, Heyii, Heyaa, Heyum,… For his, weight height, shoe size, etc…. ADSR with ”Turn-in” and ”Turn-out” option (Turn-in and Turn-out affects the pitch and maps it to attack and release) Voice character XY pad (Intensity and Narrowness) / Legato mode (glides between notes and velocity levels) / Legato Hold mode (polyphonic legato when using a sustain controller) / Throat emulation XY pad (Grain and Tonality) / Built-in Reverb. In summary: Jussi is not a Must Have. Jussi is not a powerful synth. Jussi is Jussi! And this is the most important! My rating? A Killer App! For me? A Must Have too, because if nobody use it to make a Hit, I will try to do it…
Review by Ed So, here is the new App from Klevgränd. A polyphonic Synthesizer. It's a new App, but not a real new Synthesizer. It's a new version of their Syndt synthesizer. I will post it's review the next week... Wait... Sorry... "Hey, you, the man with the black shirt! Please wait a little bit! I know that you already bought Syndt but I have not finished my review and if you go now, you will make a big mistake! So, please come back, seat down and wait until the end of my review! Thanks! So, what I was saying.... Ah, yes, SyndtSphere is a new version of Syndt... A new version with a totally different and unique UI. Here, by rotating a Sphere with one of your finger, you will "surf" between presets. 70 states. All parameters are morphed according to the proximity of the different presets and this is totally awesome! This is for this reason that I love so much the iPad, or I should say the Apps that we can have in our iPad. Here, with a different UI we have a totally new Synth... I am sure that you the man with the black shirt you will not be able to create the same sounds that mine with your Syndt, even if it's the same Synthesizer! So, before to conclude, I have to talk about the Ping Pong delay and the legato mode (with a glide speed setting) available in a little pop-up window... Also, one thing that you can think weird, but in fact totally normal, it's the lack of preset in the Library menu... Yes, it's so easy to create a preset, I mean a good one, that the developer team could have had 10 000 presets or none... They choose none, to let you create yours... To conclude, one more awesome App and creative App from Klevgränd with a unique UI and an awesome sounding that everybody can use... A Must Have! A Killer App!
