Gambi is a music player. A Stem music player (check out the definition at the end of this post). Have you read it? Yes No? ok, it's a multitrack music player. up to 32 tracks! It comes loaded with 72 chiptune tracks. Soundtracks from famous game consoles. Nintendo DS, Gameboy, Commodore 64, ... the player comes with a treble and bass eq and a reverb. you can mute a track and export the playing tracks via Audiocopy or iTunes files sharing. You can also use Audiobus to record the Master out to another App. You can also import your own Stem files in the same way or by using the open in feature from another App. The App is very well done, very easy to use. I don't know other Stem files music player in the App Store... The pre loaded tracks can be used for personal usage only. A Must Have for all fans of chiptune soundtracks. For all the people who are using Stem files.
Review by Ed StemStem-mixing is a method of mixing audio material based on creating groups of audio tracks and processing them separately prior to combining them into a final master mix. Stems are also sometimes referred to as submixes, subgroups, or busses.
Some people consider stems the same as separation mastering although others consider stems to be sub-mixes to be used with separation mastering. There is some lack of clarity with regards to what is a stem versus what is a separation. Semantically it seems to depend on how many separate channels of input are available for mixing and/or at which stage they are towards reducing them down a final stereo mix, with different people drawing the separation line at different places. This technique originated in the 1960s with the introduction of mixing boards that were equipped with abilities to assign individual inputs to sub-group faders and then manipulate each sub-group (stem mix) independently from the others. This technique is widely used in recording studios to control, process and manipulate entire groups of instruments such as drums, strings, or backup vocals, in order to streamline and simplify the mixing process. Additionally, as each stem-bus usually has its own inserts, sends and returns, the stem-mix (sub-mix) can be processed independently through its own signal processing chain to achieve a different effect for each group of instruments. This technique is also practiced with Digital audio workstations (DAWs) in a similar way where groups of audio tracks may be processed and manipulated digitally through a separate chain of plugins. Stem-mastering is a technique derived from stem mixing. Just like in stem-mixing, the individual audio tracks are grouped together to allow for independent control and signal processing of each stem and can be manipulated independently from each other. Even though this method is not commonly practiced by mastering studios it does have its proponents. In audio production, a stem is a group of audio sources mixed together, usually by one person, to be dealt with downstream as one unit. A single stem may be delivered in mono, stereo, or in multiple tracks for surround sound. In sound mixing for film, the preparation of stems is a common stratagem to facilitate the final mix. Dialogue, music and sound effects, called "D-M-E", are brought to the final mix as separate stems. Using stem mixing, the dialogue can easily be replaced by a foreign language version, the effects can easily be adapted to different mono, stereo and surround systems, and the music can be changed to fit the desired emotional response. If the music and effects stems are sent to another production facility for foreign dialogue replacement, these non-dialogue stems are called "M&E". The dialogue stem is used by itself when editing various scenes together to construct a trailer of the film; after this some music and effects are mixed in to form a cohesive sequence. In music mixing for recordings and for live sound, stems are subgroups of similar sound sources. When a large project uses more than one person mixing, stems can facilitate the job of the final mix engineer. Such stems may consist of all of the string instruments, a full orchestra, just background vocals, only the percussion instruments, a single drum set, or any other grouping that may ease the task of the final mix. Stems prepared in this fashion may be blended together later in time, as for a recording project or for consumer listening, or they may be mixed simultaneously, as in a live sound performance with multiple elements. For instance, when Barbra Streisand toured in 2006 and 2007, the audio production crew used three people to run three mixing consoles: one to mix strings, one to mix brass, reeds and percussion, and one under main engineer Bruce Jackson's control out in the audience, containing Streisand's microphone inputs and stems from the other two consoles. Stems may be supplied to a musician in the recording studio so that the musician can adjust a headphones monitor mix by varying the levels of other instruments and vocals relative to the musician's own input. Stems may also be delivered to the consumer so they can listen to a piece of music with a custom blend of the separate elements. Looptunesdj is top! This App is not for Djs only. Musicians can use it too! Hopefully because I am the worst dj available in all Galaxies! (The Sunday Contest video is one more example of this... But despite this you can see how the Apps works...) So, LooptunesDJ comes with 2 identical "surfaces" on the left and right side. On the top, the Decks. Tempo Auto Detected / Tempo x2 or /2 / Offset slider / 4 cues (you can move a cue to another cue slot) and 6 loops ( 1, 2,4,8,16 or 32 bars). Below the Pads: 16 per surfaces. 4 channels for each surface (4 Pads per channel). LooptunesDJ comes with a lot of loops but much more are available in the online store. You have 20 credits. 1 loop = 1 credit. You can also import your own loops with Audiocopy or Audio Share. You can also record a loop to a Pad with Audiobus, the built in microphone of your iDevice or an external hardware. A great feature allows you to record your master out to a single Pad.. Great because of all the effects and parameters that offer this App. Each Pad can be played from 5 different ways: bar, one shot, one shot raw, note on, note on raw. You can also drag a Pad to another slot, even the other surface. A keyboard allows you to play the sample same as with a Sampler. For each surface, we have a Mixer. A volume for the deck and all Pads with a 3 band EQ for each. Each Pad can be sent to a Filter, a Delay and a Reverb. The deck can be send to a Fx slot too. 2 big expression Pads, one for each surface allows you to play live with all the Fx available. Also and this is really awesome, each Pad comes with its own "Channelstrip" named Macro here. A small expression Pad for a filter (Bandpass, Highpass and Lowpass). 1 slider for the LFO amount and one for the speed. Also a distortion (a good one) a volume, a pan and a pitch. Below the crossfader allows you to switch or mix the 2 surfaces together. LooptunesDJ can be controlled by a sequencer, an external Pedalboard or else. (MIDI implementation with MIDI sync and learn). It also comes with the Ableton Link feature. Below, you will find the tutorial and 3 videos. The first one, I made it today. A little tutorial. The second one was made for the Sunday Contest. A weird mix, but you can see the powerful of this App. The last one was made for the Let's open it together post. To conclude, this App is very versatile. The processing quality for the effects is really great. The App is very easy to use even if you have to know some little tips to have a real big fun with it. (Check out the tutorial) I love this App! A Killer App! A Must Have!

Check out our trailer, manual, and get support at: http://ichigoichie.org/gambi Twitter: http://twitter.com/gambi_app Facebook: http://facebook.com/gambiapp OS >= 10.3 This App allows we you to create a song very easily and fast. Everyone can use it. Pro musicians and beginners as well. Medly works a little bit like Garageband. I explain... First you create a new Project. Set the Scale and the Tempo. You create a new track. A Midi or an Audio track . You select the instrument you like. Then, you have 2 choices. Or you edit a blank pattern or you choose a pattern from the Library. Each packs from the Medly store comes with Audio loops and MIDI melodies and rhythms. The developer offers me the Master Pack: 150 audio loops, 450 Midi patterns, 30 instruments. (Thanks a lot!) I didn't have the others packs excepted the Starter one, but there are also a Rock, Jazz and Classical instruments Packs in the Medly Store. Audio track and Audio editing: At this moment, you can not import an Audio File into the App, but this feature will be add shortly. You can record audio with the built in microphone of your iDevice. You can trim an Audio File. Midi and Midi Sequencer: A Midi in feature. No output. The sequencer works like most of all the MIDI sequencers. Tap to add a note, again to delete. Tap to add a note then swipe to the rigth to set its length. Tap and hold a note to set the accent (3 level). A snap feature is also available. Track settings & FXs (Audio & Midi): Volume, Pan, Echo, Reverb, Ducker, High / Low, and Pitch. Delay rate 1/4, 1/8 & 1/16. No other Settings for the effects. Automation: All the track parameters can be automated. That's all! And enough! To conclude: For Pro musicians,s first: Are you using Garageband? For myself: never... (the only reason why I would like to reinstall Garageband into my iPad is Alchemy...) Garageband is an hybrid App. Too many features for a beginner and not enough for a Pro musician. Sometimes a friend ask me for a track.... Sometimes my muse is going to visit another Galaxy... Sometimes,... Sometimes it's cool to have an App like this. Very easy to use. A lot of melodies and grooves and a very good Audio sample's quality for all instruments. For beginners: All the things that you need to create a track are in this App. Only 10 minutes to understand how Medly works. Not too many menus, settings,... So, you will never be lost. I like the concept and I don't want to have too many features in the future updates. Perhaps only one or two more with the import Audio one. The ability to record the audio from another App and the ability to import a Midi file. That's all. For me, it's enough. A Killer App, a Must Have have for beginners. An App that Pro musicians must have to remember the day when their muse is travelling to another Galaxy.
Notes:
I had the answer and the solution too. If you launch Medly first and after the host App, no problem the signal will be recorded. Top! There is a bug. Sure, but at the end not really annoying... The developer will fix it. The update will be released at the begining of the next year. So, don't worry, no problem! Here us the video. Tap the icon below to jump to the Medly review. Review by Ed This is the tutorial 4 / The Sample page Wahoo! Awesome! One thing that I really really love is the Slices to Pads (Create Pattern) feature! Check out the video demo! Also, the Mapping page is great... Fast and easy to understand. As usual you will be able to insert a lot of plugins to a layer or a Pad. Also use the ADSR or AHD... The recorder and the "Move to next Pad" feature is great! BeatMaker is very powerful. Certainly the most powerful DAW from the App Store. A lot of features, but once you know them, it's easy to navigate inside Beatmaker 3. Next Tutorial the Audio Track.
Edit Sample Page Here you will be able to edit your Audio files. First, you will have to select the Layer and the associated audio file. By a Tap on the Edit button, your audio will be displayed in full screen mode. Edit function: Trim audio (zero to Snap / Snap to grid / no Snap) Copy / Paste Fade in & out / Silence / Time Stretching / Reverse / Stereo to mono Playing mode: No loop / Normal Play / Alternated Live Stretch & disc streaming Slice: Auto Slice Delete, copy & paste Slice Slices to Pads / Create Pattern Here is an awesome feature! In 2 minutes you will be able to slice an audio file (split or Grid), then to send all the slices to Pads and create a pattern too! Check out the video demo. Slice to Single or Multiple layers / Slices to Apple Loop Record Here also a great feature. You can auto assigned a new recording to the next Pad, in Synthesizer mode or not! ADSR OR AHD / 9 EQ Filters for each layers Layers Fx For each layer: Overdrive / SV Filter / Invert Phaser & Bit Crusher Modulations 1 more ADSR OR AHD per layer / the re trigger switch / Layer Gain & Tune setting Mapping I love this page. So easy to map your Sample on the keyboard! Plugin
You can insert an Audiobus, Audio Unit or IAA plugin to a Pad (More with Audiobus, AUM,... Check out below) 71 Drum Machine loops in this App. Groovy Loopz is very well done and offers 2 simples and interesting features that I really love. The first one is that you can rename a loop. Simple, but so useful! The second one is that you can save a loop to the setlist page. From there, you can play all your saved loops. A Lock Tempo feature allows you to play all these loops at the same BPM. A song like mode… Unfortunately no Audiobus or IAA features. A Super App! Review by Ed 4 categories: Brazilian contains complete and structured themes of the most representative rhythms of Brazilian popular music. Groove contains only the loops where the whole group is involved. Drum contains includes specific drum loops. & Classic Metronome beats includes a list of bars with signatures from 1 to 12 and combinations of different accentuations. On the top, the metronome. Below the sheet music. Below again the Categories, the “songs” list, the playing pattern and the instrument list. You can set the volume, pan, mute or solo and normalise an instrument track. The sheet music display 8 tracks at the same time. On the right side of screen, 2 Pads. You can assigned a sample to these Pads. 210 samples are available. To conclude, the App is well done, the sound quality great. You can use it to practice your instrument, to play loops or to play drum with the 2 Pads. You can also use it as a sample library. The App can be used with the Desktop version and will offer you more possibilities. A Killer App! A Must Have! Review by Ed 310 Drum Loops in this App! For Free!!!! Only one ad when you launch the App! So a big thanks to the developer! (To thanks the developer you can also remove the ad) So, what I was saying? Ah, yes, 310 loops play by a real Drummer. (The Drummer plays so "square" that I thought that it was a Drum Machine....). So, what I was saying? Ah, yes. 310 loops divided in 11 categories: Disco, Funk, Pop, Rock, Slow Rock, Swing Shuffle, Metal, R&B, Jazz, Country & Blues, World. You can change the Tempo by using the big Knob in the player window and use the Tap Tempo feature. You can decide to preserve the pitch or not (Time Stretching). The process quality is very good. You can also add a Count in and lock something... Something that I didn't find... So, I will ask the developer.... An EQ is also available (Low, Mid & High), and a Bit Crusher too. A loud switch allows you to boost the volume. Also a Favourite page where you add all your favourites loops. All this for Free! My only big regrets is that there is no sharing feature... The top will be the Audiobus support for $0.99... Or $1.99... Or... A Super App, and if one day we will be able to share (Audio Share) or record a loop with another App, sure that I will rate it as a Killer App! Review by Ed |
