i have a few Apps since a very long time in my iPad. Some that I really love, but so powerful that I need a lot of time before to post the review.. Among this App, GeoShred. An awesome synthesizer. Between a electric or acoustic guitar, an harp, a sitar, Bass,... and a synthesizer. So much keyboard layouts, settings... So powerful! So, a little video where I am using some factory presets, just to let you listen to this Killer App!

Last week I received zMors. I thought that it was a modular Synthesizer. And yes it is, but I didn't know that it was much more that this. You can use it as a Audio UNIT / IAA and The udio us mixer. A multitrack recorder and mixer. A midi sequencer... As you like or need. I am so impressed that I wanted to do a little video. In the Video, I am using 3 Audio Units plugins, 1 midi sequencer and 1 midi keyboard module. The midi sequencer send the note to Ruismaker and the midi keyboard control Zeeon synth. I also route the Ruismaker Audio output signal to Reverb, a Audio Units effect.
bs-16i is an sounds expander. It can play SoundFont and DLS files. You can also import your SoundFont and DLS files from another App, iCloud Drive, Dropbox,... The Stand Alone version is a 16 tracks sounds expander because of this it comes with a Mixer. For the Audio Unit you load as many instance of bs-16i as you need. The other difference is the Midi files player that you will not find in the Audio Unit version. Excepted that, the 2 synth module are the same. 4 sections. 1/ Output: Volume - Pan- Reverb - Chorus - Delay (Send) 2/ Tune: Coarse - Fine tune - Pitch - Portamento - Mono or Stereo 3/ Eg / Filter: Attack - Decay - Release / Cut-off - Q 4/ Vibrato: Rate - Depth - Delay In the App in Purchases, you can unlock the High Resolution engine (enables high-quality and low-noise audio outputs by 100% floating point calculations.) and 128 voices of polyphony (64 for the standard version). To conclude: bs-16i is a Must Have! Yes, because it always useful to have an App like this in our iDevice. On the Web you can find a lot of SoundFont files. A lot of instruments for free... The App is very well done and I like the 2 versions. A Killer App! A Must Have!
Review by Ed senode is a MIDI sequencer. 1 pattern, unlimited length. Unlimited tracks. Unlimited steps. It comes also with a Synthesizer: an ADSR, 3 waveform types (Sinusoïdale, Triangle & Square), a Filter, a Reverb, a Volume and a Tone. Here is one of my only 2 regrets. At this moment, Senode is not Audiobus, IAA or Audio Unit compatible, but It's only the version 1.0 of Senode so, I hope that one of this feature will be added in a future update. Senode is very easy to use and allows you to create a pattern, even a song very fast. On the left side of the screen, 3 tools. The Emitter, the Node and the Connection tool. The Emitter is a generator. The Node is a step (of your sequence). And the Connection the wire. So, first you add an Emitter to the surface. The Emitter can also send MIDI to another App or an external hardware. It comes also with a Tick, a Volume and a Transpose knob. The Tick is a clock devider. Then, you add all the Nodes needed to create your chord progression, melody or rhythm. A Node can play one Note or one Chord. For each Nodes you can set the number of Ticks too, the Volume and the Legato. Once done you all the Nodes together and the Emitter to a Node. Then you can play your sequence. More... The Emitter You can connect several Emitters to a Node. You can connect an Emitter to the Node you like. You can set for each of the Emitters (connected to the same sequence of Nodes) a different number of Ticks. So, you can easily create a Polyrhythm or a "canon". You can also multiplying this sequence by touching the + button located on the left side of an Emitter. The Nodes A Node can be connected to as many other Nodes as you like. It can be also connected to himself for creating a loop. Editing Some shortcuts allows you to work faster. Check out the tutorial. To conclude.. A very unconventional sequencer. Very easy to use and fun. I love it! Really. Before to tell you that it is a Killer App, I have to tell you my second regret. A copy and paste feature. Yes, I think that it could be really great to be able to copy a sequence of Nodes, but as I said at the beginning of this review it's only the version 1.0 of Senode... A Killer App!
Review by Ed To make my videos, sometimes I have to use a MIDI files player. I have a lot of them, but because it is the first App I am reviewing in this category, I have decided to start with my favourite one. So, all my apologies for making one more time the review of a Killer and a Must Have App. All my apologies to kill the baby in the egg. Tuer le bébé dans l’œuf in French means: no more suspense… A little bit violent, but at the same time a baby doesn’t come from an egg… Euh, sorry… back to Sweet MIDI Player and why it’s my favourite MIDI files player. First because I can always open a MIDi file with it. Always! Sometimes I only have to add the .mid extension to a file. Secondly because this App is very simple to use. Simple but very powerful! Do you know bs-16i from bismark? (I used it for the video demo, because Sweet MIDI Player isn’t Audiobus or IAA compatible…but despite this you can export a Midi file to audio…). So do you know this App from bismark? Why I am talking about this? Because the synthesizer engine is licensed from bismark.jp! The 16 channel mixer is really cool also. A Pan, a Reverb & a Chorus send (MIDI), a Mute, a Solo and a big Volume fader. You can set the Tempo and transpose a Midi file by semitones. You can create your playlists and set a lot of options in the Setting pages. Play modes, Bar or time display, external screen display, background colour. A lot lot of cool things… check out the tutorial below. Also, Sweet MIDI Player displays the Lyrics. (lyrics synchronized with the music). You can use it for Karaoke! More, it can also Auto “detect” the Chords playing and show them in the Lyrics page. Here also a lot of options… To conclude, I love this App… it’s my MIDI Files Player.. You can try it. The App is Free. This free version is limited to play the first 3/4 of a MIDI file. A Killer App, a Must Have!
Review by Ed After Funk Drummer, Rock Drum Machine 5, Soft Drummer and Super Metronome, here it is Brazilian Dum Machine. One of the 2 Percussions Drum Machine from LumBeat. (The other one is African Drum Machine, and I really hope that we will have the Asian One one of these days...). Here, 60 sounds / 30 different Percussions. 7 Banks: Bossa Nova, Afro, Samba, Batterie, Folclore, Forrô and Marcha. Also the user Bank where you will be able to save you rhythms. Around 100 rhythms! The sound quality is perfect, as usual with this developer. The App, awesome as usual with this developer. If it's the first time that you have a look at a LumBeat App, check out the review below and the other videos demos. (The Funk Drummer video shows you how to use the Jam Mode with an external Pedalboard.) A Killer App, a Must Have!
A very long time ago, in the previous millennium, there was no computer, so we had to record a real Drummer to make our recordings. In 1959, Wurlitzer released the first electro-mechanical drum machine called the Side Man, and a lot of others were released after. Cool for electronic music… In the middle of 1970, the first audio samplers start to arrive. With them and a lot of hours of programming, it was possible to “unused’ a Drummer during a recording session. When the iPad was released, some Drum Loop Apps were released. So cool, no more Audio CD with unnamed tracks, and no BPM… at this time, it was a revolution… in 2013, an App has been released: SuperMetronome Groovebox. I remember this day… I said to myself. “It’s not a metronome! It’s the future of the Drum Machine!“… Do you know the LumBeat Apps? I don’t know a better way to create a Drum track in 10 minutes. Not a Drum Machine track! A real Drum Track record with a real Drummer! Yes, I don’t the name of the Drummer, because he is super shy and always happens to hide in my iPad, but when I ask him to Jam on a pattern… wahoo… he jams! Yes, it’s crazy! And the worst, is that you can create your own patterns, select the sound for the 5 drums instruments, and ask the hidden Drummer to play a Fill when you like! Also, a Live Pads mode is available. 8 Pads, 8 patterns that you can control via Midi… A Song mode too. To conclude: There was before and after the LumBeat Apps. I am not kidding! It’s the ultimate Apps for creating Rhythms. I forgot to say 2 things: The sound quality of all the Sound Set is awesome! And 4 effects are also available: Compressor, Reverb, Delay, and EQ. My only problem is that I don’t know how to pay the Hidden Drummer after a recording… A Killer App! A Must Have! Review by Ed snap is a Drum Machine. A 8 tracks / 16 steps Drum Machine. A different Drum Machine. It's name comes from a unique feature. The Snap mode. (The magnet located on the top right corner of the screen) You program your pattern with 3 different ways. Check out the tutorial below. Snap will be Free! In App purchases: 1/ The ability to save your project 2/ The Midi implementation At this moment 18 Drum kits. More features will be added soon... Snap is great for live performances. Snap is very easy to use and allows you to create a pattern in a record time. More info soon.... Review by Ed A week ago I made the review of CMP Grand Piano. Now it’s time to review Colossus Piano. I am very lucky because the developer sent me a redeem code to unlock all the in app purchases. Unfortunately, my iPad has not enough free space to download all of them. For example the Master peace of this App is Colossius Concert Grand 14tGb! All the in app purchases need around 30Gb of Free space to be downloaded, so I will post a review for each of the packs. In this App there an Electric Piano pack also… when I saw it I was a little bit intrigued. What’s about the the Fender Rhodes or the Wurlitzer Tremolo effect? No problem, 2 more knobs come with the Electric Piano pack: Tremolo frequency & Tremolo depth. More, 1 other knob, The Pad volume.... in fact, for each loaded instrument you can choose to add a Pad "sound" layer. (Violins). I like that even if the purists will find this function a little superfluous. Also, an Electronic Music mode. The 2 Tremolo knobs are replaced by one. A Tremolo speed. The Pianos installed from this set : 1 Electric Grand & Electric Mix. 2 FM Electric Grand & 1 FM Electric Mix. 3 Clarinets & 1 Reed Piano. 5 Fender Rhodes. 4 Wurlitzers. 1.6 Gb of stereo samples. (24 bit / 96 KHz) In use: I had a little problem with AUM App, perhaps due to my iPad (Air 1) and the memory uses by Colossius Piano. No problem with Audiobus and the Audio Unit version. Switching from an instrument to another as well as adding the Pad layer or using the Electronic mode takes a little time. With the Audio Unit version, it’s not a big “problem”. It is a little bit more annoying with the IAA version because of the lack of a presets library. (You have to swipe to select an instrument, and each time you swipe Colossius Piano load an instrument.) The Audio Unit version is very simple. Only the Presets library. No other features. The other features: (Stand Alone and IAA version) The built in keyboard can be enlarge. Note that I had a little problem when I tried to use it with Audiobus. (I had to hit the keyboard keys so hard, that I decided to use 2 Midi controller's Apps.) Another great feature is the Hermode Tuning: Makes the sound more brilliant by controlling the pitch of the notes in multivoiced music to better frequency ratios than with fixed tuning. Note that the polyphony can be set to up 140 voices. The MIDI velocity response curve can be set via the editor to fine tune your MIDI keyboard, you can save them as presets. Also, a Reverb: 18 presets. A great quality of processing… In the second page is dedicated to the Midi file player and recorder. Unlimited MIDI tracks. (You can import MIDI files via iTunes files sharing) I had a little bug here, when I was playing a Midi track and tried to switch from a Piano to another. Problem was resolved when I stopped the Midi file before to swipe to another Piano. To conclude, the Electric Piano Pack is really great I love the sound. I am really happy to have a Clavinet too! Take your time with this App and everything should be OK. A Killer sound set! A Must Have!
Review by Ed The App Store description starts with this: The second best sounding piano app in the App Store (after "Colossus Piano")! So, below the beginning of the Colossus Piano description: Colossus Piano sets a new standard in terms of realism, detail and overall quality of piano sounds on your iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. There are 8 acoustic piano models available as 8 individual in-app purchases, plus 5 E-Piano legends bundled as 1 sound set with this app, together those 13 piano models make up 30 Gigabyte of sound material. All keys of all piano models were recorded in full length with a recording quality of 24 bit and 96 kHz stereo. Now, let’s talk about CMP Grand. I do not know if you all know that I had to stop Apps4idevices for 3 long years. The first two years, I had no internet connection, and because of this, I missed a lot of new Apps, among others, Colossus Piano that I just discovered at the moment. So, it’s seems that Colossus Piano has replaced CMP Grand Piano. More Piano types and some features that you can find in the other Apps from Crudebyte like the ability to set the keyboard size and the great and unconventional Preset library. CMP Grand comes with a Grand Piano and a Jazz Piano. 1.7Gb of audio samples (real time disk streaming). 2 more pianos are available from the store: Concert Piano (1.6Gb) and Upright Pianimo (1.1Gb). Because of this the sound quality of these piano is just awesome! Another great feature is the Hermode Tuning: Makes the sound more brilliant by controlling the pitch of the notes in multivoiced music to better frequency ratios than with fixed tuning. Note that the polyphony can be set to up 140 voices. The MIDI velocity response curve can be set via the editor to fine tune your MIDI keyboard, you can save them as presets. Also, a Reverb (Echo / Reverb) with 17 presets is present in the App. A great quality of processing… In the second page a Midi file player and recorder. Unlimited MIDI tracks. (You can import MIDI files via iTunes files sharing) To conclude, CMP Grand was my favourite Piano App until that I am writing this review. I have now to go to my favourite Internet coffee in PinKlao to download Colossus Piano. My rating? Because of what the developer wrote in its App Store description, a Killer App but not a Must Have. The Must Have have should be Colossus Piano....
