Stephetones it's a room... Inside this room, you add spheres. These spheres can generate 8 different sounds. Percussive intruments. Melodic or Drum Percussions. By dragging your finger from the center of a sphere to the room will create a note. You will be able to set the "good" distance of a note for creating you rhythmic by watching the number displayed on the screen until you release your finger. By zooming in you will be able to set the pitch of all notes generated by a sphere. Add as much sphere as you like. To set the volume. Mute or listen to the Reverb of the room, zoom out. Only the visible spheres can be hear. An half sphere displayed will play half volume. Drag a sphere out of the room to delete it. You can record your performances and share them via iTunes files sharing. This App is really cool. Very funny. Verry well done. A Super App! Review by Ed

Before to start my review, I would like that you reed this, just below. tI’s on the user manual of Troublemaker in the developer's website. Basically, there are two envelopes in Troublemaker (like in the original TB); the AMP envelope, and the filter envelope. Where most synths give the user control over the AMP envelope using ADSR EG controls, there is no control whatsoever over the AMP envelope in Troublemaker. The AMP EG is triggered when a note starts, and it has a long, fixed decay of a few seconds. It is, in summary, the most unexciting envelope in the world. On the other hand, most of the magic of the acid sound comes from that other envelope: the filter envelope. Almost all of the main knobs on the synth interact with the filter envelope in one way or another. Did you read it? I hope so, because if you didn’t, you will not understand why a man (old) like me who don’t really love the electro sound, the 8 bit sound can fall in love with Troublemaker… yes, I love it! I love the generated sound. OK, it's write that it's not a TB303, and sure that it's not, it’s an App… an App better that the TB303… Better that the one I had when I was 18 years old. This App is very “Simple". On the top the Synthesizer that you can use as an Audio Unit App (s), and at the bottom the sequencer. That’s all, 1 window. 1 window for hours of pleasure. Because of the sound, sure, but also because of the sequencer. awesome! So well think, clever… so fun with the mutation and the variation modes. No, definitely I love Troublemaker. A Killer App, a Must Have! Note: the user manual is also very well done, the developer explains a lot of interesting things, and as I know that he is in holidays I could not stop myself to steal a large part of it.
Review by Ed "Stravinski" is a melody generator that creates eight-bar piano melodies with adjustable complexity. The algorithm is based on scientific research in the field of music psychology. It is developed by the team behind "CHAiOS SYNTH 2". Workflow: set the complexity to your preferred level, press "generate", then "play". That's it. Hit "settings" to set tempo and key, or toggle the drum tracks on/off. Of cause "Stravinski" supports Audiobus, Inter-App Audio and MIDI out. This is the App Store description. If I put it here, it’s because there is not a lot of things to add, excepted that the App will generate a Piano sound, and the generated melodies are really interesting, If you want to use it, don’t forget to send the midi out to a midi sequencer, if not, the melody you love will disappear forever… A Good App!
Review by Ed CHAiOS SYNTH 2 is a synthesizer that generates 16 step of random melodies. Move or simply tap the dedicated Pad with your finger to create a melody. More you use the right side of this Pad, more your melody will be complex. More you move your finger to the top, more higher notes will be played. When you are happy with a melody, tap the Loop button. You can continue to use the Pad to add a “fill” to this melody, or generate a new one during all the time you hold your finger on the Pad. You can add a 1 bar Drum beat to the loop. 3 Drum’s instruments (Kick, HH & Snare), 2 sound presets. In the parameters window, you can asked the melody to play a Major, minor or a “melodic” scale. You can set its key as well. For the Synthetiser: 3 waveforms (Saw, Triangle & Square), an ADSR & a Filter. You can also add a Reverb and a Delay to the output signal. In Summary, CHAiOS 2 is very well done, very easy to use. It’s not a “big” App with lots of parameters, windows, settings despite this, I had a lot of fun by playing with it. A Super App!
Review by Ed An App like no other. A Synthesizer, a sequencer, and 2 random melody modes. If I stopped there, you would tell me that there are other Applications like this one in the App Store.. And you'd be right. But here, one of the two ramdom mode is quite particular .. the Life Like mode. Each time your sequence will repeat, (Step Sequencer : from 1 step to 32 steps) notes will die forever while others will survive. Others will rebirth..These notes can be all the notes of the sequence, or only those included in an area previously defined. Another thing you will not find in another App is the possibility of assigning a different midi channel for each octave of your sequence. In total, 22 octaves can be played simultaneously, and this because you have the possibility to select your scales from the Scales library menu or to create a custom one. By selecting one or more octaves on a vertical axis you will have the possibility to generate a fill at the end of your pattern for example, for all midi channels assigned to these octaves (colour).. By selecting one or more octaves on a horizontal axis, you can generate a ramdom melody for all the midi channels assigned to these octaves. (You can select a Scale from the built in library or create a custom one.) You can also use Xynthesizr for live performances... move all the notes to the left or the right, up or down, flip them horizontally or "vertically", you can change the octave, the roots'note, or transpose all your sequence with one finger tap. The built in Synthetiser is called Purle synthe: 16 voice polyphony / 2 antialiased oscillators per voice / 4 waveforms (sine, triangle, sawtooth, square) 4-pole (24 dB / oct) low-pass resonant filter / 2 ADSR envelope generators (amplitude and filter cutoff frequency) / 2 LFOs to modulate 4 selectable LFO targets (filter frequency, pitch, amplitude, second oscillator detune) / Stereo delay, reverb and randomized panner To conclude, Xynthesizr allows you to do an incredible number and different things according to your imagination. It will be also a good companion theses days when you will be lacking in inspiration. A Killer App! Audiobus / IAA / Ableton Link / Midi support Review by Ed |
