Review:This week I will post everydays a part of this tutorial... It's done, already... And it means that I know perfectly this App... (Excepted 1 little thing that I still not understand... Check it out in the Audio Track tutorial below..) 1 It's not the most powerful of the DAW, despite this: 3 inserts per track. Unlimited groups... Audiobus, IAA and AudioUnit (Intrument tracks and Fx) A lot of built in Plugins, others from the Shop. 2 It's not the most revolutionary UI, despite this: You don't need to read the User Manual, everything is simple... Not a lot if windows... A little bit like Protools... I love this... 3 It's not the most powerful Audio and MIDI Editor, despite this: One more time, for the Audio and MIDI Editors, no need to read the manual. Most of all the features I need are present. Perhaps the Time Stretching for an Audio Clip. I can also change the way I am writing... It's among and perhaps even the most "easy to use" Pro DAW from the App Store! It's my second DAW. And sometimes also my unique DAW. I am Beta Tester for Auria Pro, I have to install and uninstall it a lot of time. Auria is also heavy, and sometimes I need space in my iPad. So I remove it... But I keep Audio Evolution into my iPad. Audio Evolution is very study too... I need this.... A Killer App, a Must Have!
Review by Ed 1 Menu ProjectA real File browser... You can import easily MIDI and Audio from a project to another. You can Mixdown a project, send all rendered tracks to another DAW, export a MIDI file. Create and load Templates, Sure, load and save a Project... Import from Audio Share too... Overview and Tracks2 ways to create a Track:
Or you choose to import Audio or MIDI from another project. A track will be created . Or you Tap the + button located on the bottom right side of your screen. 4 choices here: Audio Track, MIDI Instrument Track, Drum Pattern Track or MIDI track. Note that I didn't understand how to create a Stereo Audio track... To create it, I import a stereo Audio file from Audioshare into Audio Evolution. All the tracks come with a Volume, a Pan, A input Routing, 3 inserts (Audio Unit or IAA plugins), 2 send to the groups (you can create unlimited groups). A 3 band EQ excepted for the MIDI Track. 1) Audio Track The input Routing allows you to insert an App. (Audiobus or IAA) Audio will be recorded. The track menu allows you to rename a track (You can also rename a track by a long tap on the note label.) To remove it. To move it up or down. To copy the track to the clipboard. To render the Audio to Audio File. 2) The MIDI Instrument Track It's exactly the same track as an Audio Track. Just after you have created it, you will have to choose the "Guest" App or the Audio Evolution built-in Sampler. (We will see this later) A shortcut on the trackhead allows you to switch to an IAA App or to the Audio Evolution keyboard if you have choosen an Audio Unit instrument. The Track menu displays the same things as the Audio Track plus a Translate by semitones, a Split Midi Channel and Merge All Clips features. This track record MIDI. 3 & 4) The MIDI track and the Drum Pattern tracks are the same. Only the MIDI Editor is different. (We will see this later) The Track menu is the sale as the MIDI Track instrument. The imput routing is for the MIDI destination and source.

i am always saying that Quantiloop Pro is the Best Live Looper available in all Galaxies... Before my review, a preview... I am very old now... I remember when I was so young, so beautiful, with a lot of muscles everywhere... Dozen of girls and boys around me... I remember this day when Audiobus was released in the App Store... A big revolution! All around the world, million of musicians in the streets, sound engineers, Producers, Videos editor... It was crazy... For the first time we were able to connect Apps together with internal audio busses. Today, this first version of Audiobus no more exist. Today, we have Audiobus 3! Unlimited internal Audio Busses. An Audio Mixer, A MIDI Router, a Ableton Link remote, an Audio Units host, and a App State Recorder! Each time you connect 2 Apps together (Audio or MIDI), an audio bus is created. An Audio Bus it's a stereo channel with a rack for the inputs and the inserts and 1 slot for an output (by default, the master output of your iDevices). In each rack you can add as much Apps as you like and that your iDevice can support. You can mix in a same rack Audiobus and Audio Units Apps. You can also send the output in another App. A new bus will be created... As much as like and that your iDevice can support... The MIDI routing page works the same way... It's so easy to set your MIDI set up that even my 6 months old son can do it. (Not that I am not totally sure to have a son...) The Mixer allows you to Mute, Solo, Pan and set the volume of all the Busses that you have created. Now 2 things that are not details... The remote transport that you can find in all the Apps loaded into Audiobus... It's just awesome! I remember when I was so young, so beautiful, with a lot of muscles everywhere... Thousand of girls and boys around me, I sent a Tweet to Audiobus asking them if it was possible to add an escamotable MIDI keyboard to this remote... I still think that it could be a good idea... And the State Saver is just... So coooooooool! When you have finish to work with all your Apps, you don't need to save the state for all of them... Simply save your Audiobus session. This is so awesome that for my live, even if I don't need Audiobus for a track I am performing, I use it just to recall all my Apps state! To conclude: Generally when I do a review, I do not like to talk about another App. it's a bit like giving an Oscar for the best movie, you're talking about another movie. But this time I will make a " Une entorse à la règle " in french, "sprain to the rule" in English because in many websites, I can read: Audiobus vs AUM. for my part, there is no vs between these two apps. There is rather a big ♥ ️ Audiobus is my Nieve and AUM my SSL As I am a very lucky guy, I can connect them together. A Killer App!, a Must Have!
Review by Ed Audio ShareIn the French App Store description lot of reviews talk about a problem with Audio Share... no output signal.. ??? As always with Audio Share and all recording Apps , you have to enable the monitoring option. Orsilus is a multitrack Audio recorder and mixer. Up to 64 Audio-channels / Up to 16 Aux channels / Record up to 16 simultaneous audio channels Orsilus comes with the Ableton Link feature, support Audiobus (in & out) and Audio Units. Orsilus can load Up to 32 Audiobus, Audio Units or Orsilus effects per rack (rack = channel Pre insert) In-built effects: Compressor / 3-Band EQ / Distortion / Test-tone / Filter / Metronome / IO Unit / Aux/Send Unit / Waveform View / VU Meter / Test Tone (Tone generator) Orsilus comes with Channel automation record (Volume, Pan, Mute) and a Master channel with Buss Compressor Orsilus is developed by one man only! Orsilus it’s also the Q Beat A Drum Sequencer: select an engine from the 8 available. Load a Sample (or 8 for each of the layers) for each of the 8 available instruments. Set the number of Bars, the steps per instrument track (Polyrhythm), as well as the pitch, the volume and the swing, or use the Drum Pads before to send your pattern (engine) to its dedicated track. Into the Arranger window. You can also program your pattern with another App or external hardware. (MIDI in) This Q Beat is a really, really good idea, and I am really impressed when I think that this App is developed by one man only…. Orsilus it’s also a Visual Mixer… This is more than a good or very good idea… For each track you can choose an icon. All these icon are display in room. Move an icon to the left or right to set the pan. Up or down to set the volume and use the Z axis to change the channel Volume, Reverb Send or LPF. Hold an icon to solo a track. Drag your finger for a multi channel selection. Enable or not the channel colour frequency. It’s just awesome! Simply have a look at this page to listen to your mix without to play it! If I say that this visual Mixer should be the new standard view for a Mixer it’s not really fair for the Orsilus developer… but it should be… It’s awesome! Another awesome thing? Really awesome? The rooms! 3 are available. Simply select the desired studio room for your project. Set the Pre delay, the high pass filter frequency and the Output signal of your room. This also is an amazing idea! Before to conclude: There are so many, awesome things in this App… it should be downloaded by all developers, all the iOS Apps lovers to encourage this man to continue his awesome work! I can not buy this App, because I don’t have a Credit Card… I can only offer a banner on this website as long as needed for him to bring Orsilus to the top…. So, I will do this… Yes, because Orsilus still needs to be developed…. The arranger window, (edit window) can be optimised. At this moment, you can only trim, or split a region. Some little things need to be improved too, like the way to set a Loop, the copy and paste and zoom features,… To conclude: Orsilus is not the best App for composing because of its lacks of MIDI tracks and features in the Arranger View page. But for mixing or recording… if it’s not at this moment, I am sure that it will be in a not so far future…. I am really impressed!…. How only one man can do this ? Chapeau bas in French… Hat down in English…. A Killer developer! A Killer App! A Must Have!
Review by Ed New projectQ BeatArranger ViewTraditional MixerVisual MixerMain menu & SettingsThis is the tutorial 4 / The Sample page Wahoo! Awesome! One thing that I really really love is the Slices to Pads (Create Pattern) feature! Check out the video demo! Also, the Mapping page is great... Fast and easy to understand. As usual you will be able to insert a lot of plugins to a layer or a Pad. Also use the ADSR or AHD... The recorder and the "Move to next Pad" feature is great! BeatMaker is very powerful. Certainly the most powerful DAW from the App Store. A lot of features, but once you know them, it's easy to navigate inside Beatmaker 3. Next Tutorial the Audio Track.
Edit Sample Page Here you will be able to edit your Audio files. First, you will have to select the Layer and the associated audio file. By a Tap on the Edit button, your audio will be displayed in full screen mode. Edit function: Trim audio (zero to Snap / Snap to grid / no Snap) Copy / Paste Fade in & out / Silence / Time Stretching / Reverse / Stereo to mono Playing mode: No loop / Normal Play / Alternated Live Stretch & disc streaming Slice: Auto Slice Delete, copy & paste Slice Slices to Pads / Create Pattern Here is an awesome feature! In 2 minutes you will be able to slice an audio file (split or Grid), then to send all the slices to Pads and create a pattern too! Check out the video demo. Slice to Single or Multiple layers / Slices to Apple Loop Record Here also a great feature. You can auto assigned a new recording to the next Pad, in Synthesizer mode or not! ADSR OR AHD / 9 EQ Filters for each layers Layers Fx For each layer: Overdrive / SV Filter / Invert Phaser & Bit Crusher Modulations 1 more ADSR OR AHD per layer / the re trigger switch / Layer Gain & Tune setting Mapping I love this page. So easy to map your Sample on the keyboard! Plugin
You can insert an Audiobus, Audio Unit or IAA plugin to a Pad (More with Audiobus, AUM,... Check out below) It was the first time that I rated an App from XME as a Killer App... I am not a big fan of all the recording studio Apps from XME, but this one came with some features that I really loved: The ability to extract the Audio from a Youtube video / the ability to record an online radio... I try to find in the App Store if this App has been rename, but I didn't see another App from XME with these features... Published on 24 Sep 2013 Studio 2 is really different from the other Recorder or Workstations on the App Store... The purpose is not the same as a recorder like Auria or Multitrack Daw, and nor the same as a Workstation like Meteor or BeatMaker 2. For the recorder section, you only have 2 Effects: A Reverb and a Delay (2 Busses). The editor is also really simple : Copy, Cut, Split / Fade in & out... But the others don't have what follows ... 96 tracks! The possibility to extract the Audio from a Youtube Video, the possibility to recordan online Radio. Drag the bottom handle of an Audio track to repeat it! And this that the others have: the Audiobus and the Open in features, Automation for the Volume and Pan. Great! I said that it is also a Workstation because it comes with an internal MIDI module: the BeatPad. For 4.49€, you can unlock and download all the available Sounds. A big, very good quality, library of sound with a BeatPad as a DrumPad, no keyboard, but all the samples from a tune instrument are assigned to each of the 16 Pads. You also have some Chords kits (Major, minor...). For the editing, just a quantise feature. To conclude, Studio 2 is very well done and I really love its UI, very clear... Sure, that a Pro musician could be disoriented by the lack of some features, but for myself, I will keep it on my iPad 4 and also instal it on my other iDevices, because I really love its ease of use. The possibility to work with so many tracks. There is however two things that I would really love to have in a future update: an undo button and an input monitor... A Killer App! (I'm sure that it can be better and better with time, still keeping its originality). (There are also some little bugs, but it is a new born App... so it is normal...) Review by Ed Yesterday, I had to work in a music shop here in Bangkok... At 10:02 am, the first customer of the day... He asked me for a small midi keyboard to control his Mac and not too much expensive for sure... For sure, I answered, AUM $18.99! Then, he asked me if he had to buy a midi interface... I replied no,that he will be able to control his Mac over Wi-Fi... At 10:20 am, the second customer: he was looking for a midi router to use with his 1 port midi interface and his iPad,but not too much expensive, for sure.. For sure I answered, AUM $18.99 At 10:40 am. 3 guys asked me for something which could be able to synchronize their machines together, generating a midi clock with a transport remote... One was using a old vintage midi keyboard, the other one Ableton for PC and the last one Tractor for iPad... But not too much expensive for sure.. For sure I answered AUM $18.99 will send the Ableton Link (over Wi-Fi) to the 2 last guys. The first guy had to buy a MIDIConnect from Griffin $19.99 (1 midi port) At 11:00 am, a DJ. He needed to play audio loops sync to the bpm for his live performances. But not too much expensive... For sure I answered! AUM $18.99 plus Audioshare €4.99 Unlimited Audio file player with a loop player with auto normalise function A chanelstrip per track including: • Stereo balance • Stereo to mono • Stereo panning • Mid/Side balance • Mid/Side - Stereo convert • Invert Phase • Parametric EQ • Low-shelf filter • High-shelf filter • Low-pass resonant filter • High-pass resonant filter • Gain • Hard clip • Saturation • Lookahead peak limiter At 11:30 am, Twist, a friend of me, a sound engineer... He had to record a band playing live... He needed 10 tracks for the drums, 2 for the guitar, 1 for the bass and 1 for the vocal. 4 distinct routing for headphones, and the possibility to insert his Foscurite preamp to the vocal track... A channel strip per channel also... But not too much expensive, for sure... For sure I answered, AUM $18.99 Plus Audioshare €4.99 and a TASCAM Celesonic US-20x20 USB 3.0 Audio Interface $499.99 Unlimited Audio track recorder. For multi track recording at once, it depends of the connected audio interface A channel strip per track and subgroup (11:00 am) 8 subgroup here subgroup A & B for the drum / bus C, D, E, F for the headphone > route to the Tascam output port 3, 4, 5, 6 out port - Bus G to insert the Focusrite preanp > route to the Tascam output port 7 > return to the Tascam input 15 - Master out > route to the Tascam output port 1 & 2 At 12:00 a young guy with an iPad... Boring to switch from an App to another asked for a small keyboard midi controller... But not too much expensive,... For sure, I answered, AUM $18.99! At 12:00 I needed to eat something... I was thinking that played live during 2 years with my Blueboard, my 12 step pedal board... That I was trying during 2 years to control the volume, the mute, the solo of my 6 tracks to shape my guitar sound... To sync all these Apps together.. To change a setup for a song with one tap on my Pedalboard... And now, I have this App, but it's the raining season here in Thailand,... It could be a litle be frustrating if I didn't have to use AUM everyday to make my video and and audio demo... AUM should be sell with all iPad for 3 reasons... First, it's so easy to understand how it's works... As a mac, an iPad... Secondly, So study as a Mac and an iPad... Third, because it's impossible to imagine making music on iOS without AUM. A Killer App is not enough... A Series Killer App... Not enough.... A Genocider App... (Little bit violent....) A Terminator App... A Must Have for all iOS musicians!
Review by Ed For this video I used a music composed and performed by X & 11. This music as well as the entire album has been created with iOS Apps only. I hope that you will love this title as much as I love it... Tap on the image below for more info about this Artist. |
